Other work included a repaint, an interior refresh, and rebuilding the carburetors, distributor, and brake system. Finished in Aquamarine Blue over brown leather, this 356A is now offered for sale by the consigning dealer on behalf of the current owner in Denver, Colorado. The sale includes records from the restoration, a reproduction tool kit, factory Bilstein jack, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean Title.

The body was stripped to bare metal and repainted in its factory Aquamarine Blue (707) during the restoration, which was carried out by, TJ Auto Inc, between 2015 and 2017. Areas of rust on the floorboards behind the driver’s seat and in front of the passenger-side front toe board were replaced with new metal. The seller notes some blemishes in the paint are present see photo gallery. The stamp inside the hood matches the last three digits of the chassis number.

15” painted steel wheels wear polished covers and Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that were mounted in 2017. Original front and rear over-rider bumper guards were sourced and triple chrome-plated. Window frames were also re-chromed and installed along with new window channels and seals.

The interior was refurbished with new leather upholstery from Autos International, as well as a new headliner. The 2-spoke steering wheel was repainted and re-chromed and features an ivory-colored rim and horn ring. The seat recliners were also re-chromed. The gearshift knob is topped with a Kennedy half-dollar which was been polished.

The car retains a 6-volt electrical system. The Blaupunkt radio was rebuilt by Koenigs Classic Radios in Germany, with new speakers and covers sourced from Koenigs. The 5-digit odometer shows just under 30k miles, with total mileage unknown and approximately 400 miles added by the current owner from when it was purchased in March of 2019. Drivers window lever was being repaired when vehicle was scheduled for photography, and will be fully functional prior to transfer.

The flat-four engine was rebuilt in 2017 with an 86mm big-bore kit to bring the displacement to 1,720cc. The crankshaft was turned down to first undersize and new main bearings, rod bearings, seals, pushrod tubes, and gaskets were also installed. The cylinder heads were machined and rebuilt with new valves, springs, guides, and seals. The carburetors were rebuilt, and the distributor was sent out for a rebuild by Partsklassik in Arizona. Timing and carburetor adjustments were made prior to installation of the engine.

Stamping *73998* is shown in the photo gallery matches the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, confirming the engine as original. Transmission #27379 also matches the CoA. The transaxle under previous ownership was serviced with new rubber boots and gear oil.

During the restoration the brake system was rebuilt with new master and wheel cylinders, hard lines, and rubber lines.
