Design Gino Sarfatti, 1958
Steel tube body, steel support arms
Made in Italy by Flos
A dramatic fixture created by simplistic design producing modernist elegance. Since 1958, this iconic Gino Sarfatti design has served as an ultra-modern representation of the traditional mid-century chandelier. Every detail of this state-of-the-art ceiling light is exceptional, from the finish of its main steel structure to the way each bulb is fitted with its own horizontal arm and the graceful wiring meanders down the stem. The 2097 by Gino Sarfatti holds 18, 30 or 50 incandescent bulbs, emitting indirect light. It features a ceiling fitting and includes a suspension cable.
During his work in the lighting sector, Gino Sarfatti set up Arteluce, which became an international reference point for the modern architectural lighting movement and also a meeting place and forum for many of the leading Italian designers of the 50's and 60's. He designed and produced over four hundred luminaries and conducted extensive research into the innovation and design aspects of lighting.
